In Glasgow

2018/01/05

So, I’ve arrived at the University of Glasgow for a five month exchange, and I figured it would be a good time to finally try blogging.

I got here in the morning on New Year’s Eve on a flight from Reykjavík. After a taxi ride to the main gate of the University, I got the keys to my apartment. I then walked around for two hours completely lost and confused trying to find the place. Navigating the streets here takes some getting used to. The people here are some of the nicest people you will meet. They were getting out of their cars to help point me in the right direction. Finally after a couple hours someone knew where Southpark Terrace was, and I was able to go home.

My apartment is only two minutes from the University and five to ten minutes from a lot of shops and pubs. The city center is about a 40 minute walk. The city is absolutely beautiful—full of old brick buildings and green space. I’ve been taking lots of photos, but I haven’t been to the lab to develop them yet. Below is one I took on my phone; I’ll post more soon.

My jet lag seems to have subsided, I got a good sleep last night and took a walking tour today. I have to get up early tomorrow for a tour of Edinburgh. I think I’ll try this again next Friday after I’ve taken some classes. I’ve been enrolled in three so far—Market Design, Game Theory, and History of Economic Thought. I have to take one more course, so I’m trying to get one called Economics of Banking. I should have it all sorted by next Friday.
