Slide Film (Finally)

2018/05/21

I’ve been sitting on this slide film for quite some time. I started it way back on the Isle of Skye, then finished it on the way to Inverness. I finally edited all of the photos on it.

The colours are nice, but overall I wasn’t really impressed enough to consider shooting much more slide film. I have one more roll of Provia 100F that I think I’ll bring home to Canada. The cost just isn’t worth it compared to Gold 200 or XP2 Super, which have become by far my favourite film stocks.

My exposures weren’t perfect, but I was able to edit the best ones. Annoyingly, there are several black spots on the photos. I looked at the transparencies closely, and they appear to be spots where there is no emulsion. I’m not sure if this is related to the development, or flaws in the film, or my storage of the film.

The pictures might take a while to load, the scans were at a much higher resolution than I usually get.

I started the roll of Velvia 50 at a place on Skye called the Kilt Rock, because it looks kind of like a kilt.

I then took a couple of photos in Portree, which is the capital of Skye.

Then I took a few here in Glasgow on a sunnier day.

The last photo on the roll, from the trip to Inverness, was of the memorial on the Culloden battlefield. There was a large battle there during the Jacobite uprising.

Lots more photos coming soon.
